A Treasure on The Peninsula
The Lekki Conservation Centre (LCC) is one of the most visited nature reserves in Nigeria. It is a scenic area that offers a few well-appreciated hours of getaway from the busy life in Lagos.
The Centre was commissioned in 1990 and has since then become one of the most conspicuous modern nature parks in Africa.
The Experience
One of the many reasons people love to visit is because the centre has the longest canopy walk in Africa, which is 401m long and was launched in 2015.
To take on that climb you have to be prepared physically and mentally. This is because the higher you go, the more difficult it gets to hold yourself together. To climb the canopy, you have to read the rules and agree to them. Afterwhich you then obtain a wrist tag that will identify you as a climber.
Also at Lekki Conservation Centre, you get to see the giant tortoise which is ninety-five years old and roams freely within the walls of LCC.
Tourists take pictures with it and post on their social media, albeit when the tortoise comes out to play. Other animals like monkeys, peacock, crocodiles in the water, and snakes on the trees are also found in LCC.
Besides the beautiful natural view the LCC has to offer, it offers you a life-sized chess board and for chess lovers.
For those who just love to relax, LCC is the best place to do that in Lagos, either alone, with friends or with that special someone.
It is better to visit during the dry season, but if you visit during the rainy season, make sure to wear appropriate shoes!
