Your Ultimate Guide for Tourism in Nigeria in the New Year

As the New Year starts earnestly, people are talking about where they hope to visit this year, what to do. Bucket lists to check off, and most importantly, New Year’s resolutions but forget about Tourism in Nigeria.

At Experiencing Naija, we think every Nigerian and non-Nigerian at home and abroad you should make this year a time to explore the riches within. Here are three (3) ways to Experience Naija.

  1. Explore Nigeria More

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” Mark Twain

Whether it is Yankari or Lekki Conservation Centre or Obudu or somewhere new or neglected. For your business, as a family, or just for the sake of doing “something new”, travel within Nigeria more often.  It is believed that one of the reasons people feel disappointed in life at an old age is because they have not seen the beauties and greatness around. Don’t judge Nigeria by hearsay. Travel, Engage, Experience Naija!

2. Plan

Before the age of internet and Experiencing Naija came into existence, thinking of where to visit and what to do during the visit was a hard nut to crack, but with our regular updates and guides, you need not bother any more.

To enjoy Nigeria is to plan for it, to know the exact seasons and when festivals will take place amongst many other things. From our Experiencing Naija guide, the month of February ushers in the special month for Argungu Fishing Festival, Lagos Theater Festival and Social Media Week Lagos amongst many others. May and June come with the Lagos/Eyo festivals and Durba Festival respectively.

Whether a 3-day trip to Northern Nigeria or a weekend cruise around the South West or simply touring the middle belt states, plan wisely in 2020!

  1. Look at things positively

Looking at the negatives, seeing the glass as half empty, and complaining are the outright chief wastes of time someone can engage in. Wherever you travel to in Nigeria, see it positively as truly, one of the biggest things that can stand in the way of a beautiful trip and experience is seeing things negatively. Remember, great things take time.
